Due to the current war situation in Ukraine, we modified our open call Notgalerie Europe. To support Ukrainian artists, we are creating new Artist in Residence positions at our project sites. Initial Call

Notgalerie Europe / Corridor Network

For 2022, the first collaborative project between Notgalerie (AT), Pragovka Gallery (CZ) and DÍNAMO (PT) is announcing a short term residence for international artists in the cities of Vienna, Prague and Porto. The residences will last 10 to 21 days in the time period from May to November 2022. The aim of the stay is to realize a project in public space and to be part of the creation of an autonomous artist-network between cities across Europe.

Residence offer

Artists can apply to one of the cities: Vienna, Prague, and Porto. Each city offers a specific site for the realization of the artist’s work. Further information about each site an be found on the following pages.
Each residence provides:
*) care and assistance for the realization of the art project
*) make connections in the chosen city through networking opportunities
*) Travel budget between 150,- to 250,- € depending on the distance
*) Free accommodation for the entirety of the residence
*) Materials provided by the project site & small budget for specific materials that need to be purchased. If applicable, please specify in the application any additional material needs & costs
*) Stipend for food / drink 400,-

+ At the end of 2022, a final exhibition presenting the results of all residence projects will be shown at the LLLLLL artist run gallery space in Vienna (see www.LLLLLL.at or LLLLLL at Instagram).

How to apply

The Open Call for submissions is addressed to international artists, with preference for those who have experience with projects in public space. We also encourage socially- engaged and participatory-based projects that occur in the urban space. Artists who would like to be considered as candidates, are asked to submit the following documents in English (max. 10 MB) with the subject “Artist in Residence 2022” to notgalerie@gmx.at
1.) A fully completed application form (APPLICATION_FORM_Notgalerie_Europe.odt download)
2.) A professional CV detailing recent projects, exhibitions, workshops and residences (max. 2 pages).
3.) Up to five examples of previous projects (emphasis on projects realized in public space) that connects to the proposed project along with a link to Website / Instagram.
4.) A description of the proposed work / motivational letter - (max. 3,000 characters incl. spaces). The description and concept of the proposed work does not necessarily need to be a fully developed idea. The final concept can be done in cooperation with us while preparing for the residency. The aim of the description and motivational letter is to provide the Jury with a direction about your interests and ideas relating to the space and project.

Deadline for submissions: March 27, 2022, 5 pm CET on notgalerie@gmx.at

Decisions will be made in late-April and all chosen candidates will be notified of the results.
