From 6 July to 26 October 2015, miart, Milan's international fair of modern and contemporary art, invites international exhibitors to apply for the 21st edition of the fair, which will take place at Fieramilanocity from 8 to 10 April 2016, with an invitational preview on Thursday 7 April.

After three successful years under the artistic direction of Vincenzo de Bellis, miart 2016 consolidates its distinctive blend of Modern Masters and cutting-edge positions and welcomes Alessandro Rabottini as Deputy Director, along with a new team of curators.
To expand the curatorial approach that is an important facet of miart, a new section has been introduced: Decades, curated by Alberto Salvadori, Director of Museo Marino Marini of Florence, will trace back through each decade of the last century, paying tribute to the forefront role of galleries in the construction of the history of art.
Around the main section Established (divided into Masters, Contemporary and First Step), the three curated sections that enrich the miart project welcome a new committee of curators:
Jarrett Gregory (Associate Curator of Contemporary Art, LACMA, Los Angeles) and Pavel Pyś (Exhibitions and Displays Curator the Henry Moore Institute, Leeds) for THENnow
Nikola Dietrich (Independent Curator, Berlin) for Emergent
Domitilla Dardi (Design Curator, MAXXI Architettura, Roma) for Object
The sections:
Established
A selection of international galleries that promote modern and contemporary art, subdivided into Masters, Contemporary and First Step. Masters: a category for galleries that show artworks made before the year 2000, in a selection that ranges from the masters of modern art to artists being rediscovered today. Contemporary: a category for primary market galleries that focus on clearly contemporary languages, from current classics to new and recent productions. First Step: a category devoted to galleries participating for the first time at miart or which participated in the past in the Emergent section and are now passing to the Established section. Participation in the First Step category is permitted for a maximum of two editions of the fair.
Decades
A section that pays tribute to the central role of galleries and their history in an itinerary that crosses the 20th century, divided by decades. Each booth, through a monographic or thematic exhibition, presents a key moment of the period in question.

THENnow
Invitational curated section. Each booth—shared by two different galleries—presents a dialogue between two artists from different generations, in an interaction between historical impact and experimentation.

Emergent
A section for young galleries with no more than five years of experience at the moment of registration (October 2015), whose programming focuses on the latest generations.

Object
Section of galleries active in the promotion of experimental design, decorative arts and limited editions, whose activities are the result of close collaboration with designers.

miart 2016 will offer an intense new cycle of miartalks curated by Andrew Bonacina, Chief Curator at the Hepworth, Wakefield. A wide-ranging schedule of conversations, interviews, screenings and performances will explore the increasingly fertile ground between the visual arts, cinema, video, performance, dance and music.
In the last three years, miart has emerged as an international platform where modern art, contemporary art and signature design establish an ongoing dialogue, a continuous encounter of established values and experimentation. At the arrival of every spring, Milan confirms its role as an international hub for collectors, professionals and art lovers from all over the world, who will be able to visit the many institutions that make up the cultural landscape of the city: PAC—Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea, Palazzo Reale, Museo del Novento, GAM—Villa Reale, Triennale di Milano, Fondazione Prada, Fondazione Trussardi, HangarBicocca and the many House-Museums.
