The Lucerne School of Art and Design – Camera Arts and the Fotomuseum Winterthur seek a Digital Curator/Media Designer

Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts Seeking a Digital Curator/Media Designer as of January 1, 2015 Application deadline: July 31, 2014 www.cameraarts.ch www.fotomuseum.ch In an innovative co-operation in relation to education, research and development, and digital publishing strategies, The Lucerne School of Art and Design – Camera Arts and the Fotomuseum Winterthur are looking for a specialist to fill the following roles from the January 1, 2015 or by agreement: Media Designer, The Lucerne School of Art and Design, Camera Arts BA (20%) in combination with Digital Curator, Fotomuseum Winterthur (60%) Media Designer (Artistic Staff), The Lucerne School of Art and Design – Participation in teaching and student support in relation to screen design, including web, apps, moving image, interactive digital media and digital publishing (teaching takes place in collaboration with other staff) – Collaboration with experimental photography and visual media projects (on and offline), including the use of location media, archives, community platforms and room installations – The visualisation of knowledge in relation to research – Ensuring the exchange of knowledge and practice between the two institutions (projects and discourse) Digital Curator (junior staff), Fotomuseum Winterthur – Development and implementation of the museum's digital curatorial programme – Conception and implementation of an online communication strategy (web, apps), with an emphasis on design and editorial work – Application of a social media strategy – Development and management of projects in the area of e-books, apps and digital publishing in collaboration with external partners Your profile – Excellent practical and theoretical knowledge in the areas of photography, visual media and digital culture. You will have experience of curating exhibitions and/or working with artists. – Knowledge and experience of state-of-the-art applications in relation to online communications, screen design and the design of multimedia communication tools – An ability to generate your own content and to work together with artists, curators, authors and journalists in editorial processes – The ability to understand multi- and trans-media experiment and research as social and content-driven as well as technical work. You will be able to develop these both critically and creatively. – Knowledge of software, social media and online platforms, including HTML programming, digital editing, picture editing, motion design, app design, Screen Type, SQL, NoSQL, Python, C++, ObjectiveC, Javascript, Max/MSP. You will be willing to expand basic programming knowledge. – Educated to Masters level at an art school or similar institution – An interest in dynamic forms of organisation and communication. You are able to take responsibility and use your own initiative. You have good communications skills and are able to work in a team. – Written and spoken skills in English and German, or the readiness to learn German – An international mind-set – An ability to operate in relation to the different interests and organisational dynamics of the two institutions What you can expect At both The Lucerne School of Art and Design and the Fotomuseum you can expect an exciting and ambitious working environment. You will experience photography in a broad international context, exploring its relation to art, design, media and society. In their respective fields the two institutions pursue high-quality and advanced solutions in relation to research, education and communication. The two roles are divided administratively and close co-operation will enable a unique job opportunity. A position as Artistic Staff (Research Associate) at The Lucerne University of Applied Arts and Sciences usually lasts three years, but can be extended to five years.
